Dominion: the Heart of God, for Man.

Psalm 115:16 says:

“The highest heavens belong to the LORD,

but the earth he has given to mankind.”

Genesis 1:28
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, fill the earth and subdue it, have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Oh Man!, by your free will and determination to have Dominion in your own image, instead of through your God and His image in you, you caused sin and hell to reign on earth – until God in His long suffering mercy sent the Sacrifice without blemish – Jesus Christ, thus ushering in the kingdom of God on earth, and the beginning of eternal life for those who believe on the Name of Jesus Christ.

In having dominion over the things of the earth, we; the believer; should be the best in every endeavour undertaken by man. We should be the leading philosophers, theologians, architects, musicians, artist/artisan, husbandmen and stewards of the earth. These endeavours are God given, and are an outward expression of our awe and love of God; through Jesus Christ; and not vocations in there own right. Believers have become so confused and narrow minded by the traditions and vain philosophies of man they have ceased to aspire to greatness, so the light on the hill has become very dim and the salt has lost its flavour.

My hope is as Paul’s in Colossians 1:24. Each believer should have this same hope and goal, that as a member of the body; the church; we each preach and admonish each other and teach each other that we may all be presented as perfect in Christ. Paul says “To whom God would make known what is the riches of His glorious mystery among the Gentiles, which riches is Christ in you the hope of glory”. This is what we should be labouring and striving for. The whole of scripture is a LIVING WORD – we do not add or subtract to/from it – but let the Holy Spirit; the spirit of truth; open up the truth to you. The truth is not what you think from just reading, the truth is what the Holy Spirit wants to reveal to you from the word.
So part of that preaching, admonishing and teaching each other is to encourage each other to lift our focus, which, when we gaze upon the face of Jesus, we will be free and free indeed. Nothing will keep us or hold us down. Our vocation, our calling is from God. So whatever you believe you want to do; that is honouring to God; that is your calling, and that is what we as members are required to encourage, and not to put down because it does not fit with our perception of what is a ‘calling’ of God.
